The team at Ivy NOLA has been hard at work designing a highly innovative program that will truly live out our motto of inspiring scholars to lead their way.
So, what's new?
1. G is for Guidance: We have finally fleshed out our final G of the 4G experience. In conducting research on the needs of girls in grades 6-12, we learned a lot about the wellness needs of girls in the school environment. Our 4th "G", Guidance, is a program component at Ivy NOLA which provides targeted wellness support to all scholars through our daily wellness hour, one-on-one support, and wellness workshops.
Why is Guidance important?
According to the research, girls need wellness support to enhance their emotional intelligence, coping abilities, and to empower them to thrive. Black girls in particular are less likely to receive wellness support in schools.
"A survey of 325 adults found that compared with young white girls, people think young black girls need less nurturing, protection, support and comfort. " (Rocket, 2019).
Instead of providing wellness support, "Black girls are treated as if they’re monolithically insolent, rude, defiant, difficult, callous, and mean-spirited" and this oftentimes lead to punitive discipline measures and over-suspending Black girls. (Matti, 2016)

2. Ivy Intent to Enroll Form: As part of the recruitment process, we are launching our Intent to Enroll form. Parents of scholars can commit to enrolling their scholar at Ivy NOLA during our opening year (2021-2022 grades 6-7) and second year (2022-2023 grades 6-9). If you or someone you know is interested in enrolling your scholar during the 2021 or 2022 school year, please complete the Fall 2019 Intent to Enroll Form.
3. Rebranding, Let's add some color to Ivy NOLA: We got rid of the original boring logo and incorporated a more lively logo, which represents the innovation that we wish to promote at Ivy NOLA.
